Touch is a very important part of human contact. It helps us feel connected and loved by those around us. Through rubbing and kneading parts of the body, circulation is aided and the muscles relax and provides sensual stimulation, helping the body heal itself and increase health and wellbeing.

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, reflexology may be as effective for promoting good health and for preventing illness as it may be for relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and illness.

There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.

The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position. There is no need to remove any clothing .

The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively above or on the body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurvedic massage uses essential oils that are chosen to suit your dosha. The massage techniques used include tapping, kneading and squeezing as well as the more traditional massage strokes you would expect. The style and flow of the massage is determined by who you are, and what your body needs for balance and wellbeing at the time.

Bowen Therapy

The Bowen Therapy consists of moves across soft tissue. The fingers and thumb apply gentle pressure to effect movement of the tissue. The moves can be performed through light clothing. A unique feature of the treatment is the pauses between each series of moves, which gives the body time to realign itself.

Relaxation/meditation/pranayama and chanting

There are many methods of relaxation to choose from using the senses and awareness such as visualisation, listening , tensing and releasing etc. Yoga Nidra is a deep relaxation of the whole body.

Pranayama is the name for breathing exercises .The breath is very powerful and there are a variety of techniques to bring different effects eg. calm, energise,  balance, bring clarity, soothe and cool etc.

Meditation is a practice of giving your attention to something as wholly as you are able. There are many methods to use, an object to gaze upon literally or in your mind’s eye. Simply observing the breath or using mantra, repetition of words. Using a particular sense intensely are some examples. Meditation can bring clarity, contentment and wellbeing.

Chanting can be very therapeutic . The teacher chants sanskrit (usually) verses and the student listens carefully and repeats. Using the voice and sound, affects us on an emotional level and can help us with our communication, to listen deeply to another as well as accessing or revealing feelings and emotional blockages within. Once overcoming a feeling of self consciousness that can arise initially, the quality of silence after chanting is very special.

Finding your way

Using a combination of skills, this therapy is to help you find your way forward if you are feeling stuck, unclear or overwhelmed. Through supportive listening, observing and reflecting, the light of awareness can shine through and let us see things from other perspectives. This allows us to make choices to move in a direction towards creative possibilities ( our hopes and dreams).

Crystal and Energy Healing

In energy healing beneficial energies are channelled by the healer to the areas of the client’s subtle energy where the greatest need is indicated, restoring its balance and harmony, and thereby promoting general health and wellbeing as a whole. I work around the body rather than ‘hands on’, although I may at the end of the session touch the client’s feet to facilitate grounding (having checked beforehand with the client that this is acceptable).

Crystal healing is energy healing with crystals. which are placed on and / or around the client’s body to further shape and focus the energy being channelled. It is not necessary to remove any clothing during a healing.

Naked Voice

Explore the connection to your authentic voice through a combination of chanting, chakra exercises and sounding. The Naked Voice experience is life-changing and can restore the transformative power of sound to link you to the deepest levels of human wisdom.

Gong Bath

Be deeply nourished and restored by the wonderfully resonant sounds of the gongs and other sound healing instruments. Lie down and be bathed by the healing, resonant sound harmonics that a Gong creates, and be transported to a timeless place of peace and deep relaxation that will both cleanse and refresh, bringing new energies to your body.

Thai Yoga Massage

Healing with Prana. The art of traditional Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient healing system. It is based on the concept of life energy pathways in the whole body, also called Sen in Thai. When disharmony occurs this can result in blockage and diseases. The practitioner will use a wonderful combination of slow and rhythmic palm and finger acupressure, massage and gentle yoga stretches along the body energy lines to restore harmony and improve vitality. It is performed on a futon wearing comfortable clothing. The benefit of a session may include releasing tight joints, stretching tired muscle, increasing range of motion and reducing stress. It can also be used as a therapy to help with specific problems such as headaches, back pain or numbness in the body. It’s the synergy of working with universal energy, being in the moment with the client, in synchronicity, empathy and peaceful mindedness.

How have I benefited in the last 12 months since embarking on a consistent yoga practice with Karen?

My initial introduction to yoga in 2003 was Sivananda. After a hernia operation I found Sivananda style classes too much and switched to Vini Yoga with Karen. I joined Karen’s evening yoga class for two years and then decided to undertake 1-1 tuition to further enhance my skills and help me to incorporate my own yoga practice in to my daily routine.

I have noticed significant benefits in a number of aspects of my life as a direct result of following a daily yoga practice designed by Karen.

Firstly there is an immediate and remarkable increase in my energy, sharpness of my focus, calmness of mind & clarity of thought. My day is noticeably more balanced & productive when I do yoga. I started to notice a big difference when I missed a day here or there or at worse a week. At a particularly challenging time in July and August 2009 I stopped practicing yoga on a daily basis and looking back, realise that that was when I would have benefited most from maintaining my practice. By the time I gave myself permission to start practicing yoga again, my sleeping patterns were shot to pieces & my state of health had spiraled into decline after over stretching myself in my professional life which then knocked on to my family also. I had neglected my own needs and spent six weeks recovering from depleted energy and an inability to work from total exhaustion and imbalance.

Thank you Karen,
With gratitude
